சதுரங்க ராணி சமர்வெற்றி ஈவாள்
கதியென்றும் ஈயும் கணைவிழிகள் எங்கே
மதியென்றும் மேவும் மனையாளே உன்னை
விதியென்ற வேடன் மறைத்தானே கண்ணே

ஒரு தலைவன் சதுரங்கப் போட்டிக்குச் செல்கிறான் (அவனது வேலை சதுரங்க விளையாட்டு வீரன் என்பதால்) அந்நிலையில் தலைவியின் பிரிவை ஒரு பாவாக வடிக்கிறான்
சதுரங்கத்தில் வெற்றியை ஈபவள் சதுரங்க ராணி, (ராணி தான் மிகவும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த காய் சதுரங்கத்தில்) என்றாலும் அவன் தன் தலைவியை எண்ணுகிறான், அவனுக்குக் கதியை என்றும் வழங்கும் வளது அம்பு போன்ற விழிகள் அச்சதுரங்க ராணியிடம் இல்லை என்றெண்ணுகிறான்! அதன் பின்னே தனது நினைவுகளில் எங்கும் நிறைந்திருக்கும் தனது இல்லாளை விதி என்ற வேடன் மறைத்து விட்டானே தனது பணியை இவ்வாறு அமைத்து என்ற பிரிவால் ஏற்படும் வருத்தத்தை முன்வைக்கிறான் !
A Chess player by profession, thinks about missing his wife/lover while travelling for participating in chess events. He quips thus, the chess queen which is the most powerful piece on the chessboard grants him victories, yet she does not have the arrow like eyes of his beloved which grant him salvation! She, his beloved is completely filling his mind always but destiny taking the shape of a hunter hides his beloved from him, by making him constantly travel towards his profession!
